Former Arsenal and Manchester United forward, Robin van Persie has secured his first senior managerial role following his appointment as the new head coach for Dutch club, SC Heerenveen.
The appointment was disclosed on Thursday on the club’s website. The 40-year-old ex-Dutch striker enjoyed a stellar career at Feyenoord, Arsenal, Manchester United and Fenerbahçe, before his retirement in 2019.
The former left-footed striker remarkably remembered as one of the best forwards at the Emirates Stadium in North London, told his new club about his passion for the coaching profession and stated his commitment to developing the club.
“The coaching profession is comprehensive and challenging, and I practise it with great passion and pleasure. I would like to continue my development and the role of head coach fits in perfectly with that goal. I am, therefore, pleased with the opportunity that SC Heerenveen offers me.

“SC Heerenveen is a very nice Premier League club with a rich tradition and loyal supporters. It’s a fantastic challenge to contribute to the sporting ambitions and development of the club as head coach,” he said.
At SC Heerenveen, Van Persie will meet “an old acquaintance with general manager Ferry de Haan. The two were teammates when Feyenoord won the UEFA Cup in 2002,” information on the club’s website read.
Van Persie will be presented at SC Heerenveen on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
