Beans Porridge Ingredients

Beans porridge does not need lots of seasoning so go easy on the salt, seasoning cubes and crayfish.

How to make Efo Riro Recipe Diaspora Version

  • Brown (Honey) Beans
  • Yam/Potatoes
  • Red Onions
  • Palm Oil (red)
  • Crayfish
  • Fresh Spicy Pepper, any of:
    • habanero pepper
    • scotch bonnet pepper
    • cayenne pepper
  • Seasoning cube
  • Salt (to taste)

Notes on the Beans Porridge Ingredients

  1. Honey beans does not require lots of seasoning because it has a natural delicious flavour so be careful about the ingredients you add to it so you do not ruin this natural delicious flavour.
  2. You can use white puna yam, potatoes (sweet/Irish), plantains (ripe/unripe) as additional staple when cooking beans porridge. Watch the video below to see how I cooked this one with white puna yam.
  3. Add pepper to your taste.
  4. Crayfish is optional, not everyone likes crayfish in beans porridge.
  5. For palm oil, add one cooking spoon per three cups of beans.

Serve with soaked Garri.
